Best Budget Gaming PC build for Fortnite 2022 (Under 600$)

Fortnite is one of the biggest competitive titles in the world with its esports events being one of the biggest with one of the largest prize pools out there. With the game focusing on their esports side so heavily, the players are constantly improving and reworking their game.

The gameplay from the early days of Fortnite seems like a completely different game from today. With so many passionate players about the game and the competition being at an all-time high, we know that games won’t want to play on a device that holds them back so keeping this in mind we have decided to bring you this guide to help you build the perfect gaming PC.

Budget and Performance

We have decided to keep a budget of around 600$ because if your only goal is to play Fortnite this budget should suffice. Obviously, you don’t have to stick to this budget and can go for better equipment if you can, you can also opt for a little cheaper equipment if you want to build a PC for even less. We believe you can optimize the price and performance at a budget of around 600$.

You can expect 120+ constant FPS 1080p in Fortnite with medium to high settings, you can further increase your FPS by decreasing your graphic settings but we believe 120 FPS should be more than enough to play Fortnite at a very high level. You can always upgrade in the future for even better performances. Since Fortnite is not a very demanding game on your PC very high-end device would be overkill if your sole goal is to play Fortnite. You would also be able to run the majority of AAA games at 60fps 1080p which is great for this range.

Fortnite System Requirements-

Before deciding what we need for our gaming pc, we should be aware of the requirements of the game we are building it for. So below are the recommended and minimum system requirements for Fortnite.

Fortnite: Minimum Requirements

  • CPU: Core i3 2.4GHz
  • RAM: 4GB RAM
  • HDD: 16GB Free Space
  • GPU: Intel HD 4000 (integrated graphics)
  • OS: Windows 7, 8, or Windows 10 64-bit
  • DirectX: Version 11 or better

Fortnite: Recommended Requirements

  • CPU: Core i5 2.8GHz
  • RAM: 8GB RAM
  • HDD: 16GB Free Space
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 / AMD Radeon HD 7870 or equivalent video card with dedicated memory of 2GB or higher VRAM.
  • OS: Windows 7, 8.1, or Windows 10 64-bit
  • DirectX: Version 11 or better

Recommended Build

Processor – APU-AMD Ryzen 7 5700G

APU-AMD Ryzen 7 5700G

  • 8 Cores & 16 Threads
  • Graphics- Vega 8
  • Speed-3.8GHz – 4.6GHz
  • Core (threads)-8 (16)
  • Socket-AM4

We have chosen to use AMD Ryzen 7 5700G in our gaming pc, it is an accelerated processing unit meaning it will act as both the CPU and the GPU of the computer. Its specifications are –

It is a very budget-friendly option and should be more than enough to run most of the games smoothly at least 60 FPS and will be able to run Fortnite at a much higher framerate. The 5700G offers 8 cores/16 threads and comes with a base clock speed of 3.8GHz that can be boosted to 4.6GHz, this is one of the best you will get at this price range.

Motherboard- ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0

ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0

  • Form Factor
  • Socket
  • Chipset

For the motherboard, we have decided to go for the ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 which will cost you around 60$ and is a very stable motherboard supporting even 3rd gen AMD GPUs allowing you to easily upgrade to better GPUs in the future if you want to. It does all that it needs to and is very pocket friendly so we decided to use it in our build.

Ram- G.SKILL Trident Z RGB 16GB (2 * 8GB) DDR4 3200 MHz

G.SKILL Trident Z RGB 16GB (2 * 8GB) DDR4 3200 MHz

  • 16 GB
  • DDR4
  • 3200 MHz

We have decided to use this 16 GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM as it is more than enough to run even the demanding AAA titles relatively smoothly and will have no problem running Fortnite very smoothly. You can always increase the RAM of your device easily if you ever feel the need to but for Fortnite, this should be more than enough. This Ram will cost you around 120$ and you can even get it for cheaper since the price often fluctuates.

SSD- Crucial BX500 480 GB

Crucial BX500 480 GB

  • Read/Write-540/500MB/s
  • Capacity-480. GB
  • Interface-SATA 6.0 Gb/s

We have opted to go for the SSD instead of the cheaper HDD for better boot-up times and overall performance. This particular SSD is nothing special but good enough at this price point for your device and we believe 480 GB should be enough for Fortnite but we highly recommend that you upgrade this in the future.

Power Supply- ECorsair TX Series TX550M 550W 80+ Gold Semi-Modular Power Supply

Corsair TX Series TX550M 550W 80+ Gold Semi-Modular

  • Wattage-550W
  • Certification-80+ Bronze
  • Modular-Semi modular

We have really decided to compromise on the power supply instead of any other aspect of the device so you only get a 500W non-modular PSU with this. If you have a more flexible budget try going for better PSUs.

Case- Ant Esports ICE-511MT Mid Tower Mesh

Ant Esports ICE-511MT

  • Great Cooling
  • Tempered Glass
  • Liquid Cooling Support
  • Fully Optimized Airflow

You can go for any computer case you want with your budget but if you don’t want to find one yourself you can go for this case which is an overall good case and would keep your device cool.

These are the core strengths that this PC build provides you-

  • Budget Friendly– Most obvious strength of this build is that how budget friendly it is, at a price range of around 600$ it is a great build that is able to dish out a pretty decent performance and is the best you will be able to get at this budget.
  • Upgradability– Another great strength of this build is that it leaves a lot of room for upgrades in the future. You will not find yourself in a situation where you find it very difficult to upgrade your device since we have left plenty of room for more storage, ram, better GPUs etc.
  • Performance– Our goal was to build a PC to play Fortnite at a high level and this device is easily able to do that with pretty high FPS at high to mid graphical settings. Eventhough our main purpose was playing Fortnite, this device is also able to run almost anyhting at atleast 60FPS 1080 which is all you can ask for from a device at this price range.

Scope For Improvement

Honestly, with any budget computer, there is a lot of scope for improvement with much better gear always available in the market. But for playing Fortnite you won’t need the extremely high priced parts but we do recommend adding some SSD or any storage unit since 480Gb will fill up in no time, we would also recommend going for a better PSU once you have some flexibility with the budget but even if not, this device should have no problem fulfilling your requirements
