Farum Azula is one of the harder bosses to defeat in Elden Ring. This particular boss can be encountered early in the game and can prove difficult to defeat for players who are new to the souls-like genre of video games. Defeating this boss however will give the player valuable loot which could help in the future.
This particular boss can be found lurking in the Groveside Cave located on the southernmost border of the Stormhill region. If you have not levelled up it’s necessary to get any of the two available ashes from the Merchant Kale inside the church.
These ashes can be summoned in the middle of the fight when your health is low. Another strategy is to summon the ashes at the beginning of the fight and start to attack after the boss defeats the summoned.
Combat Strategy
The Beastman Of Farum Azula is a quick and nimble opponent. It has several attack combinations and strikes the player as soon as they enter the cave. Evading the boss is not a viable strategy since the boss can leap towards the player and execute a jumping slam combo. The best strategy to avoid getting hit by the boss is to dodge sideways. The timing of the dodges has to be precise since the boss is very swift while attacking.
To defeat the Beastman, dodging sideways and power attacks are recommended. If the player belongs to a spell caster class, ranged attacks after dodging will be sufficient to defeat the enemy.
Using special abilities in the fight when there is a bit of distance between the boss and the player will also help in finishing the fight swiftly.
Preparation
For people who have opted for non-spellcasting classes, it’s important to convert your Flasks in your inventory to Flasks of Crimson Tears.
This will be useful later in the fight if your character’s health gets dangerously low. To get the necessary items mentioned above the player will have to collect Runes by defeating the soldier and animal units in the Limgrave region.
Loot
Defeating The Beastman of Farum Azula will drop the talisman called Viridian Amber Medallion. It adds +5 stamina when equipped. The other valuable loot can be located inside the chest.
The loot inside the chest is The Flask of Wondrous Physick which helps to craft new consumables. The second item is Ruptured Crystal Tear which can be used as an explosive. The last item which is Greenspill Crystal Tear gives the player a maximum stamina buff for a short amount of time.
