Discord has slowly become one of the most preferred and famous Social Media Website/Application. When you meet someone in a game randomly, it’s not uncommon for them to ask for your discord so you can talk properly and have a nice experience playing together!
But sometimes, you’re in school or college, but the lecture is really boring, or you have a free lecture, or you’re just skipping lectures. Either way, a lot of school and college wifi blocks multiple popular social media apps.
Discord has definitely become one of these apps with Gaming getting so much attraction and it being one of the mainstream social media app for gaming. So here are a few ways to get discord to work at your school or college wifi:
1. Try the Browser Discord
Sometimes, things are easier than they seem. Some schools and colleges don’t actually block discord, but they just block students from downloading executable(.exe) files. This is the reason you can’t download discord.
This can be easily prevented by just trying to open discord on any browser app available like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc. If this works, then there is no need to try to go for further complicated methods. But if it doesn’t, then you can try the rest of the methods.
2. Using the Command Prompt
The easiest way for schools to block certain websites is by using a keyword-based content blocker. This can be easily prevented by using a VPN (more on this later), but there is a much simpler way to bypass content blockers for those who don’t want to go through the trouble of getting and turning on a VPN.
This is done by using the command prompt. Unfortunately, this is a PC only method. So if you have a laptop or a system, here are the steps:
- Click on the Search bar at the bottom of your screen and type ‘Command Prompt’. This will open the Command Prompt box.
- Once in the Command Prompt, simply copy this “ping discordapp.com” and paste after the ‘>’ and press ENTER.
- Once this is done, an IP Address will be visible on the screen. Just copy that and paste it on your browser and press ENTER. Discord should open.
There are times when this method doesn’t work either, so follow up to the next steps for more solutions!
3. Web Proxy
Web Proxy servers are usually more than enough to get you access to the websites that you require. A web proxy server simply acts as a gateway between your computer and the website. It basically masks your IP address and sends and receives all the data from different servers.
While using a web server, everyone should be careful and make sure they use a secure web proxy like KProxy, ProxySite, Hidester, etc. To use these servers, simply open the website and type the URL of the website that you want to visit and press ‘Surf’.
4. Using a VPN
Virtual Private Network(VPN) is like a second home to gamers. It is a great thing to use to ensure privacy and prevent yourself from getting doxxed by people or organizations with malicious intent by completely hiding your IP address. Similarly, a VPN can be used to hide your IP and bypass content and website blocks on your school or college wifi.
A VPN is easy to use. Connect to the wifi in question and turn on the VPN after selecting the region you want to VPN to. Once the VPN is connected, open your browser and search ‘Discord’. The link for the login page should be available.
These are the few ways to easily get discord to work at your school or college wifi. Enjoy surfing!
