Pokemon Scarlet and violet have three starter Pokemon like almost every other pokemon game. You get to choose among a water type, a grass type or a fire type pokemon. The three starter pokemon in Pokemon scarlet and pokemon violet are Sprigatito(Grass), Quaxly(water) and Fuecoco(Fire). Choose any one of the starter pokemon, and you can set out on your pokemon journey in the Paldea region.
Now you may want to change the pokemon you chose for various reasons, the most likely being, getting a male pokemon. In this game you’ll be able to obtain these starter pokemon through trading and breeding, but not in the wild. Although there is no option provided in the game to choose another pokemon after you’ve already selected one. But you can always close the game, delete the saved data and start a new one.
Change your starter in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
If you have already chosen a pokemon and want to go back,
Follow these simple steps:
- Go to System Settings > Data Management tab.
- Remove your game data by clicking on Delete Saved Data that is present in your Nintendo Switch profile.
- Start a new game.
- Go to System settings > Users
- Click Add user. Enter the details required.
- After this, you’ll be able to make a new account in Nintendo or keep the previous one if you wish.
Although this a very annoying method, if you’ve already selected your starter you’ll have to go through these steps.
But if you have just started the game, Make sure you have saved the game before you go to select a pokemon. This way you can always load the game back if you don’t get your desired pokemon or gender.
Also, keep in mind that when you choose a pokemon and you’re asked whether you want to give it a nickname. Always click yes so that you can see its gender. Otherwise, you’ll have to go through a long unskippable cutscene, which can be very annoying.
