God of War PC: The Best Armor Sets & How to Find Them

As God of War’s PC version is almost here, we’re sure there will be exploration enthusiasts looking to get the best out of the game’s vast and immersive world. The game actively rewards curious explorers with great loot including different sets of armor.

So here’s the best armor you can craft/ find in God of War during your playthrough, obviously, ranked in order.

God of War PC Best Armor Sets :

The Traveler Set

The Traveler Set might not be as attractive stats-wise but it provides a great buff to the player- The Protection of the Traveler perk. Using this armor set allows the player to tank one hit without taking any damage. This comes in handy countless times throughout the different duels you’ll be engaging during the game’s journey. Hence this set has earned its spot in the list

You can craft the Traveler armor set using Hacksilver and materials acquired by defeating the Travelers. So be sure to keep defeating them whenever you see one, if you’re interested in crafting and upgrading the Traveler Set.

  • Breastplate of the Traveler: 5 Traveler’s Armor Shard, 16,400 Hacksilver
  • Gauntlets of the Traveler: 18 Traveler’s Grizzly Trophy, 5 Traveler’s Armor Shard, 12,800 Hacksilver
  • War Belt of the Traveler: 12 Traveler’s Grizzly Trophy, 12,800 Hacksilver

Sindri’s Royal Dwarven Set

The Sindri’s Royal Dwarven Set provides huge bonuses to Runic abilities and reduces their charge cooldown period, along with having a high defense stat. The chest plate of this set can block all damage when you’re performing Runic attacks, which is always neat. If you depend heavily on using Runic attacks, this armor is perfect for you.

To be able to craft the Royal Dwarven Set, you need to complete all Draven Favor Side Quests in the game. After finishing the final quest, “Hail to the King” you obtain the recipe for this set.

  • Sindri’s Royal Dwarven Breastplate: 1 Ultimate Sacrifice, 20,500 Hacksilver
  • Sindri’s Royal Dwarven Gauntlets: 1 Screams of the Innocent, 15,400 Hacksilver

Brok’s Royal Dwarven Set

The most important aspect of Brok’s armor is that each piece of the set increases the rate at which Kratos’ rage meter fills by 10%, allowing for less cooldown periods between Spartan Rage uses. It also has a high defense stat, so if you’re not into Runic attacks that much, this set is for you.

To craft this set, similar to Sindri’s, you need to complete “Hail to the King”.

  • Brok’s Royal Dwarven Breastplate: 1 Ultimate Sacrifice and, Hacksilver
  • Brok’s Royal Dwarven Gauntlets: 1 Screams of the Innocent, 15,400 Hacksilver
  • Brok’s Royal Dwarven Waist Guard: 1 Dragon’s Fury, 15,400 Hacksilver

Fallen Ash Set

The Fallen Ash set is an all-around great armor set to have equipped when you fight the most formidable of foes in this game. And it looks just as great too. It truly offers the best of both worlds with great defense and strength boosts. The best part of this set is the buff it provides, the Retaliation of Fire Perk, which has a chance of dealing with concussive burn damage to any enemy that attacks you. Goes without saying, it makes your job much easier.

To craft this set, you need to find Smoldering Embers from the Realm of Muspelheim.

  • Breastplate of Fallen Ash: 24 Smoldering Ember, 16,400 Hacksilver
  • Gauntlets of Fallen Ash: 18 Smoldering Ember, 12,800 Hacksilver
  • War Belt of Fallen Ash: 18 Smoldering Ember, 12,800 Hacksilver

The Valkyrie Set

The Valkyrie set grants huge boosts to Runic, Strength, Defense, and Cooldown along with nine Enchantment Sockets when fully upgraded. What makes the Valkyrie set shine is the Gauntlet’s Refreshing Light skill, which can instantly refresh all Runic attack cooldowns after a Runic attack kill.

To obtain and upgrade the Valkyrie armor set, you need to defeat the nine Valkyries.

  • Cuirass of the Valkyrie: Defeat Hildr in Niflheim
  • Gauntlets of the Valkyrie: Defeat Gondul in Muspelheim
  • Waist Guard of the Valkyrie: Defeat Olrun in Alfheim

Ivaldi’s Cursed Mist Set

Obtaining and upgrading the Ivaldi’s Cursed Mist requires more time and effort but trust us on this, it is worth the grind. It provides constant health regeneration Kratos receives while wearing the armor, even when in active combat.

To craft this set, you need to visit the Realm of Niflheim and retrieve Ivaldi’s Rusted Armor from the workshop. After obtaining it you can craft the armor and upgrade it using resources found in the maze.

  • Ivaldi’s Spaulders of Cursed Mist: 5 Niflheim Alloy, 1,500 Mist Echoes, and 20,500 Hacksilver
  • Ivaldi’s Bracers of Cursed Mist: 5 Niflheim Alloy, 1,000 Mist Echoes, and 15,400 Hacksilver
  • Ivaldi’s War Belt of Cursed Mist: 5 Niflheim Alloy, 1,000 Mist Echoes, and 15,400 Hacksilver

Ivaldi’s Endless Mist Set

Ivaldi’s Endless Mist is a variation of the Mist armor set. At level 9, this set provides 137 Strength, 250 Defense, and 176 Vitality making it greatly viable for use during the more demanding duels of the game.

To craft this set, you need to visit the Realm of Niflheim and retrieve Ivaldi’s Rusted Armor from the workshop. After obtaining it you can craft the armor and upgrade it using resources found in the maze.

  • Ivaldi’s Cuirass of Endless Mist: 5 Niflheim Alloy, 1,500 Mist Echoes, and 20,500 Hacksilver
  • Ivaldi’s Gauntlets of Endless Mist: 5 Niflheim Alloy, 1,000 Mist Echoes, and 15,400 Hacksilver
  • Ivaldi’s War Belt of Endless Mist: 5 Niflheim Alloy, 1,000 Mist Echoes, and 15,400 Hacksilver

Ivaldi’s Deadly Mist Set

Ivaldi’s Deadly Mist is debatably the strongest armor you can get on a normal playthrough. Although it doesn’t look that effective visually, it provides 85 Strength, 68 Runic, 168 Defense, and 50 vitality, along with the Regenerating Essence perk that constantly heals you. This makes the set the most balanced of the three Mist sets.

Same as the last 2, to craft this set, you need to visit the Realm of Niflheim and retrieve Ivaldi’s Rusted Armor from the workshop. After obtaining it you can craft the armor and upgrade it using resources found in the maze.

  • Ivaldi’s Pauldrons of Deadly Mist: 5 Niflheim Alloy, 1,500 Mist Echoes, and 20,500 Hacksilver
  • Ivaldi’s Gauntlets of Deadly Mist: 5 Niflheim Alloy, 1,000 Mist Echoes, and 15,400 Hacksilver
  • Ivaldi’s War Belt of Deadly Mist: 5 Niflheim Alloy, 1,000 Mist Echoes, and 15,400 Hacksilver

The Armor of Ares

(New Game Plus Mode only)

To be the God of War, you need to have the God of War Ares’s armor. Obviously, with the mythological significance, this set holds, it provides stats worthy of its title. The vital perk, Rage Field is one of the best buffs you can have in this game. It massively increases the speed at which Rage is gained while also decreasing the rate at which it drains.

In New Game Plus mode, once you have defeated the dragon Hræzlyr, and have obtained enough hacksilver Hacksilver and Skap Slag (a rare ingredient that is found in chests or dropped by certain enemies in New Game Plus mode) you can finally craft this God Armour.

  • Cuirass of Ares: 24 Skap Slag and 75,500 Hacksilver
  • Gauntlets of Ares: 20 Skap Slag & 56,600 Hacksilver
  • War Belt of Ares: 20 Skap Slag & 56,600 Hacksilver

The Armor of Zeus

(New Game Plus Mode only)

Hands down the best armor set in the game. The armor that once belonged to Kratos’ father, providing stats that make it worth the hardest grind that obtaining and upgrading this set requires. You can tear through enemies when you have this set equipped, literally.

The Armor of Zeus is obtained by defeating three of the Valkyries while playing in New Game Plus mode. And similar to the Ares’ armor, you need large amounts of Hacksilver and Skap Slag to obtain this armor, in New Game Plus Mode.

  • Cuirass of Zeus: Defeat Sigrun in Midgard while playing in New Game Plus mode
  • Gauntlets of Zeus: Defeat Gondul in Muspelheim while playing in New Game Plus mode
  • War Belt of Zeus: Defeat Hildr in Niflheim while playing in New Game Plus mode

So there you have it, the best armor sets that God of War has to provide. The game has a great progression system, which mixed with these progressively improving armor sets, truly makes the entirety of the game extremely enjoyable. God of War comes to PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on the 14th of January. Make sure to keep these armor sets in mind as you grind and farm Hacksilver while playing the game.
