How to Create a Valorant Montage? (The Best & Easy Way)

If you’re someone who plays Valorant on a regular basis and watches Valorant content on YouTube or Twitch, you’ve probably thought about making a Valorant Montage at least once. In this article, we’ll deal with the nuances to make an amazing Valorant Montage that will make you feel proud of yourself.

Valorant is a 5v5 Bomb defusal PvP game developed and published by Riot Games. The game has been insanely popular since its launch and has given a massive competition to CSGO.

The newest released agent in the game is Neon and they also recently reworked Yoru, both of which are duelist characters. And if you’re a duelist main, which is arguably the most fun role in the game, you’ve had some solid plays every now and then that you’ve wanted to convert into a montage. Here’s how you can do that:

Creating a Valorant Montage

There are a few steps to making an insane montage, we’ll go through them one by one.

Record the Footage

The very first step to making a montage with many insane clips is, obviously, getting the clips themselves. It is recommended to record every single game you play on Valorant (Yes, even deathmatch) because you never know when you’re gonna get that insane Ace, or a 1v3 Clutch, or smooth Sheriff headshots, or 10 kills in a row in Deathmatch.

So, keep that record button on at all times while playing Valorant. There are multiple apps that can be used for this that you can get for free like OBS, Streamlabs, and the NVIDIA panel itself if you have an NVIDIA graphics card.

Another alternative to this, in case you have less storage space on your system, is by using a method in the NVIDIA panel where you can record the last 1 minute and 45 seconds of your gameplay with a press of the button. You can use this whenever you get a good play. So get out there, get tons of footage (ideally 30-40 clips at the very least).

Importing the footage into your editor

This step is more focused on the choice of a video editor. Once you’re done recording the required footage, the next step is to find a suitable Video Editor to edit your Valorant Montage. The best video editor that I’ve found and personally use is Adobe Premiere Pro. It provides a very flexible style of editing and I find the software very intuitive and fun to play around with.

But, if you’re looking for a free alternative since the cost of using Premiere Pro can be pretty high if you don’t edit a lot, there are a bunch of amazing Free Video Editors out there. Some of the best ones are OpenShot, Movavi, DaVinci Resolve, and Blender. Once you’ve opened your preferred software, go ahead and import your clips into it.

Video Editing

Once you’ve done all the above-mentioned steps, you’ll stumble upon the main step of making a Valorant Montage and where this guide helps you the most, Video Editing. First of all, go ahead and find the song you want to put in your Montage.

It is preferred to have a song with a lot of beats, we’ll get into the why for this later. But, if you want to edit a chill montage with a chill song, that works too. Once you’ve selected the song, import it to your software as well and the editing begins!

The first step to editing a Valorant Montage is to put all your clips along with the music into your timeline. This includes trimming every clip to your required amount and putting them together with the song. Once this is done, a rough draft for your Valorant Montage is ready. The rough draft should have a little bit extra video footage than the song.

This is because when you’re editing the clips one by one, later on, there’s a heavy chance you’d want to trim them down some more.

Once your rough draft is ready, the next step is to revisit every clip one by one from the start and add special effects and make the video smoother. Following are a few tips and tricks to do that:

Beat Sync

Remember when I mentioned that it is preferred to select a song with a lot of beats for your Valorant Montage? This is the reason. Beat sync basically means syncing the best parts, like the headshots or an insane Operator shot, with the beats in the song.

This makes them feel much more dramatic and hooks the attention of viewers. The easiest way to do it is by marking the point of the beat on the timeline and then marking the point of the Headshot and putting them together at the same point.

Slow Motion

This technique can be used by itself and also make your beat-sync easier, smoother, and more dynamic. Slow Motion, as the name suggests, basically refers to reducing the speed of a clip right before or after the shot to again, giving it a much more dramatic feel.

Hue and Saturation

When you’re revisiting all of your clips after the rough draft. you can play around with things like hue, saturation, contrast, and colors, in general, to make your game look much better and much more attractive. This makes the Valorant Montage more catchy.

Transitions

Last, but not the least, and also probably the most important part of the video, is the transitions. Most of the software mentioned above has regular transitions available in the software itself which can be used. But, if you want to go above and beyond, you can also make your own transitions.

For example, a Jett dash in Valorant at the end of a clip can be used to transition to another Jett dash at the start of another clip. Similarly, a reload animation can be used as a transition too.

You can always play around and be creative to add various different and unique transitions in your Valorant Montage. That will be all for how to create a Valorant Montage, hope this article was helpful.
