But are you not really sure how to verify if this thing called Virus is on your computer in the first place? Or have you just been advised to re-install the entire Operating System and lose all your precious data? Don’t worry anymore, you are reading the right article now, we’ll tell you how to rid of the virus on your computer for free without losing any data.

But before we begin, let’s first understand what is a Virus actually. A computer virus is pretty much like a virus that attacks us, we animals, the microorganism virus. As the real world virus does, computer virus spreads too. In a technical way, but I’ll still try to put it in layman’s terms, a computer virus is a code that is written to alter the way a computer works, in most cases it is malicious.

In almost every case a virus comes in disguise, it ships itself along with some other proper program or a file. In most cases, the virus exploits, destroys, steals, etc our data. It can steal your passwords, personal data, your bank details, and more, hell! in today’s age we are all more digital beings than physical beings.

How can the virus enter your computer? Well, it often spreads via scam e-mails, piracy of almost anything, downloading programs or files from unknown sources, etc. There are multiple forms of viruses like trojan, ransomware, worm, etc, everything we mentioned might not be a virus technically, they are all just malware, with similar intentions.

Basically, it is something that mustn’t exist in our computers. It can be challenging to eliminate it from our computers, but we’ll try to simplify the process for you. As we do every time, we’ll mention a few possible fixes.

Tip 1 Windows Defender:

windows defender 1

As most of us agree that home-cooked food is the best, nothing tastes better than food cooked by mothers with love. In the same way, in most cases, you are good enough with the default anti-virus/anti-malware program Windows Defender which comes pre-installed with Windows.

You can use windows defender to identify any virus and remove it from your computer. To do so

  • Open Settings.
  • Select Privacy & Security.
  • Select Windows Security.
  • Select Virus & Threat Protection.
  • Run Quick Scan.

Performing a scan will check your entire PC for any viruses and other threats. Once the scan is completed it will show you the results and suggests what steps to take further. It is also advisable that you keep Real-Time Protection enabled all the time.

Tip 2 Using Task Manager to identify viruses:

Task Manager

Task Manager is the default system monitoring program that is bundled with windows. Task Manager provides us the information on what all tasks are running, be it actively running programs or background processes. Task Manager also shows what all resources are being used in real-time and how much of it as well.

In order to identify viruses by using the task manager, we suggest using your computer the same way as you do every day normally. Later open the task manager, to do so press Ctrl+Shift+Esc or right-click on the taskbar or windows icon and select task manager. Once the task manager window pops up, select the processes section and examine all the processes running, if you find any unwanted, suspicious process is running and taking up a chunk of your resources then it’s most probably a virus, remove it from your PC once verified.

Tip 3 Malware Bytes:
