The wait is finally over as the much anticipated Total War: Warhammer 3 was released on February 17, 2022. The game has received mostly positive reviews and is doing great numbers on steam with 164,484 concurrent players on the launch date.
The game is a part of the Total War franchise which is known for its complexity and barrier to entry as many new players struggle to get the grasp of various mechanics that the game features. With the release of the new title, surely many more players will find themselves confused figuring out what they are doing.

Camera Controls
Before you even start your battles in the game you need to know how to have complete control over the camera as it is a very important aspect of the game.
The controls can be customized to your liking but by default, the camera is controlled by the W A S D keys, this can also be done by holding your middle mouse button and using your mouse. A and D keys are used to rotate the camera sideways and W and A keys are used to move the camera vertically. You can also zoom in or zoom out using the Z and X keys, this can also be done using your mouse wheel.
Combat Controls
Before you engage in combat you need to be able to select your army units to control them, this can be done by left-clicking the desired unit. You can also select multiple units by pressing ctrl and then left-clicking the units.
You will have to use your right mouse button to create the desired formations. You also have many ways to control your army like using the arrow keys to make fine adjustments or using the shift key to give a route to your army.
You can right-click the enemy forces to make your army charge at them, you can also lock your army units to make sure they try to maintain their formation as much as possible. This does not work all the time but is one of the most effective ways to keep your army units organized.

Here is our recommended army formation which is a very popular and effective formation, creating your own formations is the best way you can play the game however this formation is great for beginners to learn the game as it is effective in almost all situations. So here is the formation.
- 4 front line expendible units
- 2 anti large units
- 4 ranged units
- 1 lord
- 3 heroes
- 2 flank units
High Ground
Looking at the terrain of the battlefield and trying to maintain the higher ground than your enemies forces can be the key difference between victory or defeat in Total War Warhammer 3.
The high ground provides your ranged units better opportunities and bonuses to slay your foes and the melee units also get bonuses when going downhill on the battlefield. Enemy forces get a debuff whenever they charge upwards so keeping the high ground is very important for consistent victories.
