Valorant TPM 2.0 Error Fix: TPM 9001 & Secure Boot (2022)

Valorant TPM error fix

System that bypass Windows 11 system requirements won’t be able to run Valorant. Windows 11 will be launched on October 5 and with its latest system requirement user needs to have TPM 2.0, Secure Boot Enabled and Newer Generation CPU.

As per these requirements Riot Games have also enforced new rules for their games. As per the latest report on Windows 11 in order to run Valorant you need TPM 2.0. There are various screenshots revolving around the internet with users facing this issue.

“Valorant has started to enforce both TPM and Secure boot if YOU are playing on Windows 11 to ensure a trusted platform when playing Valorant. RiotVanguard team yet again leading the anti-cheat industry in the right direction for competitive integrity”, AntiCheatPD said.

What is TPM?

Trusted Platform Module or TPM is a technology that is designed to provide hardware-based and security-related functions. A TPM chip is a secure crypto-processor that is designed to carry out cryptographic operations.

TPM applies to the following Windows version :

  • Windows 11
  • Windows 10
  • Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Server 2019

Why Valorant is enforcing TPM :

The main reason why Valorant is enforcing TPM 2.0 is because of security reasons. Enforcing TPM helps to prevent users from cheating. As we have already seen TPM is all about security and its protocols.

When TPM is enforced, and you get a ban then your entire Device or Hardware ID gets banned. This will prevent people from spoofing their device to act as some other device using new ID.

How can you fix this error?

In order to fix TPM error on your windows you just need to enable secure boot and then enable TPM on your device. Follow the steps below to get this error fixed, so you can play Valorant again on your device.

Enable Secure Boot :

In order to enable Secure Boot follow these steps carefully. Note For different Motherboards this navigation may differ.

secure boot enable

  1. First Find the bios key setup by your manufacturer.
  2. F10, F2, F12, F1, or DEL works as bios key for different systems.
  3. Turn off your system and once you press your ON button again keep pressing bios key until you see your BIOS menu.
  4. In the BIOS Menu select BOOT option and then select secure boot and enable it.
  5. Secure boot works with UEFI mode so enable that first in same section restart and then enable secure boot same way.
  6. Always save changes and then restart.

How to Fix TPM 2.0 :

tpm enable
Your UI May Differ

Once your secure boot is enabled then we can head over to TPM enable. In some system it is written as TPP or System Security or TPM directly. In order to enable TPM follow these steps carefully. Note For different Motherboards this navigation may differ.

  1. Depending upon your system look for TPP/ System Security/ TPM.
  2. Once you find TPM then simply enable it.
  3. After enabling it then save the changes.
  4. Restart your system.

Check whether Secure boot and TPM are enabled :

  1. Press Windows Key and type System Information.
  2. Scroll down and Find the Option “Secure Boot State”.
  3. If it is ON then your secure boot is enabled.
  4. Press Windows Key and type tpm.msc.
  5. In the TPM Manufacturing Information check Specification Version.
  6. If it is 2.0 then all working good.

If None of the above steps works for you downgrading to Windows 10 will help.
