Call of duty modern warfare 2 is one of the best battle-intensive story-driven titles the world has ever seen and will ever see in a long time. It is the most hyped first-person shooter title to come in 2022 and is a direct sequel to the 2019 reboot. It is scheduled to release on Oct 28th, 2022 which is just a hair’s breadth away! Modern Warfare 2 brings a lot of new improvements and changes to the gameplay like advanced AI-based systems in the co-op and the campaign modes, better-than-ever water physics, and next-gen swimming mechanics including a major overhaul in the vehicle system.
This includes improving leaning out of the vehicle window, getting on top of a vehicle roof, and even hijacking the vehicle itself. The multiplayer also features a LOT of improvements like game modes which are listed further below. The title has many different types of game modes:
- Knockout
- Prisoner Rescue
- Special oops mode
and something else which has been flying under the radar called the ZOMBIE MODE. Now don’t get too hyped as this is still in speculation and there is no proof from the devs about it but it’s still worth discussing if it were to really come.
Hype About the Zombie Mode

This kind of mode is unheard of in the CoD series for now and surely sounds cool, but coming to reason with it, it still should be taken with a pinch of salt. This is because the developers, Infinity Ward, themselves have not said anything about the execution of the zombie mode.
In fact, in a Q&A back in June 2022, no explanation was given but the VentureBeat CoD MW2 session simply ends with a ‘there will be no zombies.’
Now sure, the developers said the above, however, an alleged post possibly showed two modes: Round Based and Outbreak. The latter seemed to have generated expectations that ‘outbreak’ may include zombies too as the word itself does not suggest anything or point to anywhere in particular. Maybe sometime in the future, this mode could be implemented.
Furthermore, a recent rumour suggested that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 may get a campaign DLC in 2023 as the franchise plans to take a break from its annual schedule. Perhaps, CoD MW2 Activision may also consider adding a zombie mode to provide players with more unique and fresh content before 2024
